How I Make that Money Honey!

Hey Ladies! Does anyone else wonder where the time goes? An hour these days feels like seconds! Lanta. Anyways, I'm going to link up with The Bargain Blonde today for a fun little post about what I do at work.
Now, I haven't graduated school or anything fancy like that but I do still have a full time job that I wouldn't mind keeping even after I graduate for a while. I currently work the front counter at a local dry cleaner. I really do love it. Yes, it's hot, the customers can be so rude, its hard to stand for hours on end dealing with dirty clothes; aside from all that though I love the unexpected and meeting someone new literally every day. I've got regular customers that come in once a day or new customers that rave about how sweet I am. I love it.

As long as I can remember I've had a job dealing with customers. I worked at a snow cone place, a clothing store, a hospital, and at a restaurant. I've always dealt with people and I really love it. At this job I have a lot of responsibility, basically I act as an assistant manager. If an article of clothing gets ruined I have to discuss it with the customer and give them their options on replacing it. If something goes missing I have to find it. At the end of the day I balance the registers. It is definitely a lot of work but I enjoy being busy and occupied. I also maintain a lot of the marketing. I run our facebook and twitter pages and keep track of special offers that we're running.

At this particular store we also have a mailing center so I mail packages, envelopes, etc. which keeps us pretty busy in the down time we have in drycleaning.

As to if I use my degree, obviously I don't because I don't have one. I think this job has taught me much more than school could. I have learned a lot about dealing with the public and managing a business from working here the last two years.

If I could do anything in life and get paid for it I would really love to blog full time and be a stay at home mommy when I have kids. If R. ever started a car restoration business or a junk yard I would definitely help on the business end of that too.

Here's a little cleaners funny for ya. I know it's highly inappropriate for a Monday but it's what get's me through!

What do you do for a living?

I'm also linking up at Glitter and Gloss for Mani Monday, duh! Sorry my nails are always so boring, I don't have the patience for anything other than a solid color!

I hope all you dolls have a fab Monday!

Sunday Social

Hey Hey Hey! Gosh, three posts in one weekend. I'm gettin' on it! Welp, I'm here to do my first Sunday Social. I meant to link up last week and I just didn't have time to get a post up. Neely from A Complete Waste of Makeup is awesome. I mean she is hilarious, honest, and always brightens my day when I see a new post from her. I just love her. Enough gushing...on to the questions, Aimee.
Sunday Social
1. What is your dream job? Well, allow me to let you know that I have not a freakin' clue! If the economy didn't royally suck I would say be a wedding shop owner. Buuut, lately I've been wanting to just be a stay at home mommy when I have kids. I have been in college for three years now and I've changed my major five times. Nothing fits. I honestly think I'm meant to not go to college because I really feel like I'm wasting my time.
2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time? I would blog full time, volunteer, probably still work where I work now because I do love it (it's a dry cleaners), and then I would most definitely help Richard get a car restoration business going since that's what he loves to do.

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Everything. Let's get a little list goin', shall we? A lawyer (thanks to Elle Woods and Legally Blonde), a graphic designer, a wedding dress boutique owner, a pastry chef, a counselor, a youth pastor, a special education teacher, and a no-kill animal shelter organization lady. That about sums it up. Clearly I have no direction in life.

4. What piece of career advice would you give someone just starting out in your field? Well, I work for a dry cleaner. I work up front with customers checking in clothes, working the register, etc. so I would tell them first you need to be able to deal with problems that the customers have. Be thorough, be patient, and let them know you really care about what's going on. Orrrr you're going to have a hell of a time.

5. Biggest pet peeves in life, blogging, or work. Let's just list 'em all shall we? In life: rude people, not using your turn signal, drama, living in America and refusing to learn to speak English. In blogging: I really don't have a whole lot other than people commenting and saying "Come check out my giveaway, I'll follow you if you follow me, New follower come follow me!" I'll come follow you if you interest me. Don't shove it down my throat. At work: Probably the biggest is rude customers and after that it all deals with my co-workers...not doing their job, slacking, leaving it for me to do, and last not being able to do anything by themselves! LANTAAAA.
Don't judge me.
6. Biggest Fears? BUGS, any kind of bugs. Losing someone I love, my beloved kitty running away, and thunderstorms :(

Well, I feel like that Sunday Social might have been more of a rant than intended but that's okay. Head on over and link up your little bloggies, ladies!

20 in 20 | What I Plan on Accomplishing Before I Turn 21

Well y'all I was creepin late Saturday night and came across this pretty awesome link-up. Yeah yeah I know I've done like 500 lately, linky whore. But it is kinda different, it is 20 things I'd like to accomplish before I turn 21. I've got five months so I better get hoppin'.
1. Pass all my classes this semester.
2. Get out of debt. (excluding student loans).
3. Move up to a management position.
4. Grow my blog. If I had to put a number on followers let's say have 200 followers. Whaaat a stretch!
5. Write a guest post.
6. Buy the Canon t3i.
7. Read five new books.
8. Be healthier.
9. Start a workout routine.
10. Have my Christmas shopping done before December!
11. Donate a car load of my things that are highly not needed to Goodwill.
12. Have an angel on the Salvation Army Angel Tree.
13. Start a savings account.
14. Start reading the Bible all the way through.
15. Visit my best friend & Goddaughter in Tulsa.
16. Clean the whole house from ceiling to floor.
17. Learn not to be so selfish.
18. Master College Algebra
19. Get & stay organized.
20. Plan a successful 21 birthday!

Some of these things were on my 30 before 30 list but I feel like if I don't make some of these things goals they are never going to get done. I know a major thing is to focus on school this semester like I haven't for the last two years. Head on over and link up to Erin at Living in Yellow with your list. I'd love to know your goals for the next year :)

Would You Like Some Cheese with that Whine?

Ohhh my lanta, just a forewarning this post is about me whining. Go figure. Saturday sucked. First off I spend most of the afternoon at a car show with R. I actually like going to car shows but it was soooo hot. So. HOT. And they didn't have cheesecake on a stick which is half the reason I go! I was upset to say the least!

Also, I'm sure you've noticed the blog has a little different look. My other template was one I found and just added to get the blog up and running but I knew I wanted to create my own. So today I spend the rest of my whole day tackling that task. Let me know how you like it! I'll probably be tweaking it forever, kinda like one of those never-ending projects. Oh and, I have also added a sponsor page. I knew that was another project I needed to tackle and I did that today too using Passionfruit ads. There is an option on there for button swaps so go ahead and use that if you wanna swap buttons and I'll get yours put on my sidebar too! Use the code AIMEE if you plan on swapping so you don't have to pay for your ad. :)

After the car show and blog work, I came home to make R some enchiladas, he wanted homemade food before he left for school. So I then tackled that task. And cleaned the house some. Blaaaah.

Oh and yes, I forgot to tell you. My camera BROKE. Will. Not. Work. I had planned on getting a DSLR around Christmas. The Canon t3i to be exact buuuut now I might just get it this month and make the ol' budget a little tighter cause there are a few events coming up that I would like a camera for. I'm kinda upset about this little situation today. I had an Olympus point and shoot and it'll turn on and zoom in and out and in and out forever and when it finally stops it is a huge blur, the lens won't focus, zoom, or really do anything :( booooo.

Well I'll leave you with some crappy iPhone pictures of cars from today. The hot pink one is my fave.

It's Ok Thursdays...

Its Ok Thursdays
Hey Guys! I have been planning a post for y'all but I'm waiting on something before I can write it so I'm going to link up to It's Ok Thursdays in the meantime. Besides this week is kind of blah. So let's just make it short and sweet and don't forget to link up yourselves!

-It's okay that I've been sick literally all week and don't foresee myself getting well by this weekend.
-It's okay that I'm kind of excited about going to a car show this weekend when it's going to be 110 degrees outside.
-It's okay that I'm super stressed out about the fact that Richard is leaving for school next Wednesday and will be four hours away from me.
-It's okay that all I want to do is lay here with my cat.
-It's okay that I'm lusting over a $900 camera and plan on getting it by Christmas.
-It's okay that I cry every time I hear about the Batman shooting and it's victims :(
-It's okay that I'm seriously dreading the start of school...again.

What's okay with you this week? Have a good Thursday ladies :)

Mani Monday | Mojito Madness

Let me just say Monday's suck! What a great way to start out this post, right? Well I've been sick all weekend with a summer cold. It's the worst. I went to work today for an hour and then came home sick, yuck.

Currently I'm watching Jerry Springer on tv and snuggling with Idgit for company. I really hope I feel betta tomorrow! But I did wanna share with you what is currently on my nails for Mani Monday.

Right now I'm wearing Essies Mojito Madness. It is a gorgeous Kelly green, similar to the color of Starbucks green I think.

The consistency is kind of watery I think. I used two coats and it was still kind of streaky in places. Also, I have noticed Essie polishes take forever to dry. Yet I still use them because they have some really unique colors that I can't find elsewhere. What are y'all wearin on your nails today?

Friday Favorites♥

Hey lovelies! Today I'm doing my first Friday Favorites and linking up to The Bargain Blonde! What excitement. Let's just get started.

via
Favorite Drink
Guys I'm so serious right now I got a serious craving for iced coffee of some sort this week and we don't have a Starbucks where I live. Our coffee shop closes before I get off work which causes a major problem for me. So I turned to the local gas station for some Starbucks Frappuchino in Mocha. Yum. These are delish, but quite expensive so I have to contain myself.

Favorite Eyeshadow
I have been adoring this gorgeous color lately. I use it all over the lid or in the crease if I'm going with a super natural look. NYX has some of the best eyeshadows in my opinion. The pigmentation is wonderful and they are so soft and blend able. My current fave is in the color Iced Mocha (do we see a theme coming on here?)
Favorite Food
Alright y'all, Jimmy Johns is some of the best food around. If you have JJ in your area you need to check out the #12 (Beach Club.) DELISH. I obvi get no mayo (yuck) but it is summer in a sandwich. I eat this thing all year around and at least twice a week. So. Freakin'. Good.
Favorite TV Show
You guys are gonna laugh so hard when you hear this one. Duck Dynasty. Yep, a show about a bunch of rednecks making a fortune making duck calls. I know that sound redic but it is HILARIOUS. First of all their wives are gorgeous and they are these crazy back woods boys doing all sorts of crazy man stuff. Second, I promise if you don't laugh at least 6 times watching this show that you're probably in some kind of deep depression. It is hilarious (but don't let my boyfriend know I secretly enjoy watching this with him cause he will think he is the king of the TV forever and then I'll never get to catch up on Teen Mom.) Just watch it one time, you'll pee your pants.

Favorite Blog
My favorite blogger this week is probably Pink Lou Lou. Her posts are hilarious, especially about Sadie Belle, her pug. They are literally two peas in a pod. I've been addicted to her blog this week. She seems so down to earth and honest yet she is interesting and funny. Check her out!

theBalm = The Bomb

Hey girls! This post is kind of a review/heads up on an awesome sale happening Friday! If any of you have ever shopped at Hautelook you know how amazing some of their deals are. Usually you can find clothes, makeup, home goods, personal care products, and designer goods at up to 75% off.

Well if you have ever used or heard of theBalm they are going to be featured on Hautelook tomorrow (Friday July 20 at 6a.m. Pacific!) Run, don't walk to your computer at this time! First, I think the packaging for their products is adorable. Second, the pigmentation and quality of these products are so nice. Lastly, almost any product you get has some serious versatility. Besides the lipsticks and their palette I think almost all of their other products can be used on at least two different places on your face. Seriously, I have three products to tell you about to give you an idea of their quality and types of makeup they have.
First up is Stainiac. It is a stain for your lips and cheeks but in a gel like formula. I got this product in a recent Birchbox and the shade is Beauty Queen. It's a rosy red and it really does stain your lips. Even working at the cleaners where it is 90 million degrees I found that the stain stayed put and didn't bleed or fade. The full size product is 0.3oz. and retails for $17.00

Next up is a GORGEOUS highlighter/shadow/luminizer. Hence the name Mary-Lou Manizer. First off the packaging of this product is so cute. Second, there is a TON of product and it is fairly versatile. I use this on my cheeks as a highlight and also in my inner corner. However, I think it would be a beautiful color all over the lid or as a brow bone highlight. One of the main reasons I love this highlighter so much is because the tone of it works with my very fair skin and doesn't look to white on me. It is quite shimmery (not glittery) so you might be turned off by that but I think it would look beautiful on just about any skin tone. The full size product is 0.3oz and retails for $24.00
Last is probably one of the best eyeshadow palettes I have seen. I believe this palette is very comparable to the Naked palette by Urban Decay (I own it as well) and some of the shades are dupes. This palette does have a stark white and some more pink shades but the right half of the palette looks similar to Naked. The brush included in this palette is nothing to rave about and the packaging is similar to Naked in the fact that it also has a mirror on top and the magnetic closure. I like that you can use the Nude 'Tude palette for day or night looks and it has a variety of shimmer, matte, and glitter shades. My personal favorite shades are Stand-Offish, Schitzo, Silly, Sophisticated, Sultry, and Selfish. The palette retails for $36.00 and is usually on Hautelook for $18.00 I believe!

The products I plan on snatching tomorrow are some of their blushes and maybe the Time Balm concealer. I really want Hot Mama, Down Boy, Frat Boy, and Cabana Boy blush but I'm going to try to limit myself so my paycheck isn't gone the same day I get it! Let me know what products y'all love by theBalm and if you plan on picking any up!

Me, Myself, & I

Hey Y'all! Over at Whispering Sweet Nothings I ran across this great link partaaay that is a neat way to let other bloggers get to know you. It's the Me, Myself, & I link. You write a post with previously posted prompts and link up. Some of the other bloggers' posts are really quite interesting. What a great way to meet new friends :) Anywho, here are the prompts...

1: What is your biggest phobia?
Well, first spiders. Oh my lanta, I HATE spiders. Then probably water, I'm not a huge fan of large bodies of water. Lastly, I have a serious "phobia" of some words. It's really more like I can't stand the words and they gross me out. Examples include: chunky, moist, diarrhea, and the most disliked...belly. UGH I cannot stand that word!

2: If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be & why?
I would have to say it would probably be the day I met my Goddaughter Rella. My best friend Kelly got pregnant at 19 and although she had moved a state away we remained close friends, I threw her a baby shower, and she asked me to be Rella's Goddaughter. I love that little girl to pieces. I pray that she grows up to be a smart, beautiful, successful, independent young lady just like her mama.

This isn't the day I met her but it is a day they drove back home to surprise me!
3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what would it be and why?
I would have to say 17. I'm only 20 so this doesn't give me a lot of options. But 17 was the perfect year for me. I was still a child but I had enough adult privileges that I felt independent. Life was simple, I had it all figured out. I was the editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook, I still danced, Richard and I were at a perfect, never fighting stage of our relationship, I had barely any bills, I had just found Christ and was glowing with questions, emotions, and love for Him, and I had a world of opportunities sitting in front of me. I know that right now in my life I'm still trying to figure it out and that one day everything will make sense, but until that day comes my faith is for sure getting tested! Some days it just seems so hard to stay positive and turn to Him for the answers.
My fabulous yearbook staff. I love you all.
4. Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
I'm a redhead so I usually don't get mistaken for any celebs. One the two occasions I have been mistaken one person thought I looked like Drew Barrymore and one other occasion another person though I was comparable to Kate Winslet. I see no resemblance to either.

5. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Honestly I'm into music but I'm not THAT into music to where I have a "soundtrack" of my life. I just have songs that kind of remind me of myself or that I like a lot. I can give you that much....
(Warning: I'm a country music kind of girl!)
-If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away - Justin Moore
-Lookin' Back With You - Craig Morgan
-You're Gonna Miss This - Trace Adkins
-Laughed Until We Cried - Jason Aldean
-Fly Over States - Jason Aldean

Expanding Your Blog: Coast to Coast

Hey Guys! So although this blog is new and still kind of in the making I had/have another blog The Frugal Life of Aimee that I just kind of fell out of the norm with. Maybe one day I'll start posting there again (possibly soon?) but for now this is my main focus! Anyways, I found a blog, Whispering Sweet Nothings, that has a Coast to Coast map for bloggers everywhere to connect! How cool is this. I think it's a very clever idea and it would help everyone out. As a new blogger it is so hard to get your blog out there and although blogging is NOT about gaining tons of followers, if you don't have any followers it can feel like you're wasting your time. Always remember to be yourself when you blog, never be fake. People don't like other's to be fake in real life do they? Also, she has TONS of link up's with neat prompts for posts. Those are always fun to do and they give you plenty to write about! That girl is so creative :)

While you're here go check out Shane, Whispering Sweet Nothing's owner, she is gorgeous and has lots of fabulous tips for new bloggers! I can't believe I just now found her blog. Anyways, link up and check out some of the other bloggers on the map too!

Glossybox: June 2012

Hey Guys! We all know about the latest hype about all of the beauty box subscription services. I personally am subscribed to Glossybox, Birchbox, and Julep. I love these boxes and rarely have a problem with the products...who doesn't love getting a box full of goodies? I also love being able to try out brands I don't know or I'm not sure of.

Anyways, I'm just going to let you know what products showed up in my Glossybox and what I think of them.

1. Ahava | Hibiscus & Velvet Cream Body Wash ($22 for 17oz)
-My first impression of this body wash was that Glossybox sent a generous sample size. After opening the bottle I noticed the smell is a very natural smell. I personally do not love the smell but I also don't find that the scent is offensive by any means. I used this body was while on a weekend trip and found it to be very moisturizing and noticed the scent lightly on my skin after I had showered.
VERDICT: I probably wouldn't purchase this product for the fact that I'm not a fan of the scent.

2. First Aid Beauty | Shave Cream ($16.50 for 6.8oz)
-This product is honestly one of my absolute least favorite products of all time. Let me start off by saying that I usually don't use shaving cream or gel. I find shaving to be more difficult and messy and find that my shave is not nearly as close. Now, when I used this product I did like the fact that it is more of a thick cream. It is not a foam or a lotiony type shaving product. I feel like this makes getting a close shave easier. However, I noticed the "squeaky clean" feeling of my skin after using it and I absolutely cannot stand that feeling. Also, I just used this on my right leg and shaved the left leg as normal (sans any shaving cream.) After about five minutes my right leg was on FIRE. I mean burning. Then, later on in the day I noticed irritation and razor burn EVERYWHERE. I'm not sure if it was an allergic reaction or what but I definitely won't be trying that out again!
VERDICT: I will not be repurchasing this product.

3. Ofra Cosmetics | ICE Eyeshadow ($14.95 for 0.47oz)
-This eyeshadow is a mix between a cream and powder. It finishes to a powder like consistency. I think I might actually like this product if it wasn't such a dark purple/maroon color. I'm thinking in the fall it will be a more wearable shade.
VERDICT: I'm undecided on this product due to the color sent to me. I'm also unsure about the wear and staying power of this shadow.

4. vBEAUTE | Lite Up, Buying Time, & Eye Never ($85.00 - $150.00)
-The tubes of these products are so small I don't feel like I'm going to be able to see if I like them or not. When I did use the eye gel I felt like it was so greasy that my face would break out. The price of these products really turns me off as well.
VERDICT: For the money I would not repurchase.

5. Wella Professionals | Enrich Moisturizing Treatment ($12.00 for 5.07oz)
-In this particular Glossybox I feel like this product is one of the better ones. I like that it is a styling product but I personally don't know how it will pan out in my hair. This product is meant for thin/fine hair and I by far have thick curly hair! I'm hoping this product will add extra hydration to my curls without weighing them down. I can say that the scent is very pleasant and not overbearing.
VERDICT: I have not tested the product and therefor cannot rate it.

6. A Perfume Organic | Urban Organic ($65.00 for 0.41oz)
-This perfume is one of the most nauseating scents on my skin. I am not a fan of the spicyness of this scent. I feel like it smells something along the lines of salsa in the kitchen. To me this fragrance should be a home fragrance.
VERDICT: I would not repurchase.

All in all I think that Glossybox could use some work. Last month I felt like I got my money's worth. This month I don't feel the same, buuuuut, before someone goes assuming I hate this company I would like to say I plan on staying subscribed to Glossybox. I think they have the most luxurious samples and you are guaranteed at least one full size product each month. I feel like it does exactly what they intended...for people to test out new products!

Introduction

Hey Everyone! This blog is just going to be about all things beauty! I love makeup and beauty products across the board. If any of you have any suggestions on which products you think I should try just let me know! I hope to be introducing you to some of my favorites in the near future :)
